In 2019, I discovered a small vineyard in Adams county that had just been planted with an acre of Cabernet Franc. To paraphrase a former Penn State Viticulturist, "Adams and York counties are the two places in Pennsylvania that will produce world class wines." While these vines are young, the fruit had amazing chemistry and depth of color. It exhibits classic Cabernet Franc flavors with some savory aromas. The winemaking was classic Allegro (tank fermentation on the skins and then subsequent aging for ten months in French oak barrels.) Pair this wine with hearty meat dishes.
