This is a wine that we first released in 2018, and now 18 months later it's starting to come around. This is classic Allegro Merlot: shy early on, then growing in complexity with typical raspberry and cocoa notes and a full yet soft structure. This wine represents a major step in the evolution of our reds where I'm finally starting to dial-in better what we can do winemaking-wise to bring out the best in the grapes by understanding our soils better and how to react to them in the winery.
You'll notice a rich color and more approachable fruit character as well. My goal is to retain Allegro's classic earthiness while trying to emphasize more dark fruit flavors. As with all Allegro barrel-aged wines, this one saw time in some of the finest French oak barrels. Hopefully time will show us its similarities to past lineages while taking us to another level.
Keep up to date on the latest wine releases, events, and promotions.
